My name is Marieke Macklon and I am a full time freelance video director, photographer, DoP and editor/colour-grader based between London and Liverpool. I also lead photo teams and manager tours on occasion.
I am heavily inspired by the music, cinematography and fashion of the 1960s and 70's with a touch of nineties aesthetic ,which I portray regularly in my work, by using a lot of variation of light, textures, styles, composition and colour.
Self taught since 2009, I've been professionally photographing and filming bands and artists in small music venues to on-stage in front of tens of thousands of people at a festival, from snapping artists press shots to their album covers and capturing special backstage/on-stage moments to directing/film/producing their music videos.
I am always aiming and working towards elevating, growing and expanding my portfolio and my clients work/projects. Especially when I'm able to experiment, adapt, apply and execute new, unique and unusual ways to capture a photo, video or scene.
A bit of a cliché here but I very much enjoy challenging myself, for example : Able to push myself and the team/crew to where it allows myself and or crew to think outside of the box and create work that aligns well with the client, that meets the brief, but adds a touch of pizzazz.
- Green Man Festival - Photo Team Leader since 2018
I'm available for music videos, music/tour documentaries, campaigns/press packages, 'the making of' video/photo diaries, tour content (photo&video) and album campaigns. UK and Worldwide. As well as leading Festival photo teams and tour managing.
